Many pieces of technology were needed to ensure our course work was a success. They helped us to research, plan, construct and ultimately evaluate our final music video. As we begun to choose what song we were going to use, we used YouTube which turned out to be very useful as it is full of metal and rock music videos from bands such as Green Day, Bring Me The Horizon, Fall Out Boy and Five Finger Death Punch. Also, every video we made from our meetings to our music video was uploaded to YouTube due to the fact that it is easy to view and therefore easy to assess. Then we started to use Wix to construct a website. We decided to use this software as it looks better than PowerPoint and it is easier to personalize and make it so it shows who you are. Also it is a lot easier to navigate around your work. Another software we used was survey monkey. This is because we had to create a survey to send to our target audience so we can get feedback on what they’d like to see in the music video. This makes our course a whole lot easier and more interactive as we have engaged our target audience in the production of our music video.

 

We used Google as well to search up information about our band (Five Finger Death Punch). So we went on their official website to get tour dates and other information and then went on to Wikipedia to find out information such as who is in the band, how long they’ve been together and how many albums they’ve made and sold. However this website is not 100% accurate so we wouldn’t primarily use this for most of our research.

 

In the editing stage of our music video we used iMovie. We chose to use this software, as we did not have access to any other software to edit. We also used iMovie to make all of our other videos from our meetings to our evaluation questions. As well as that, we used Photoshop to produce our bands poster to promote the song and the album.

 

The filming equipment we used was a Canon HD cmos pro, two Nikon D3200 DSLR cameras with 18-55mm lens, and tripods. We chose to use the Nikon cameras as they give a clear image and we get the best possible result from our filming. The reason why we used two different cameras is so that we could get a good range of different angles and shot types, and also so that we could use match on action when putting our footage together. Another piece of technology we used was an apple mac book air to edit our evaluation question videos. We used iMovie to make voiceover videos for questions 1 and 2, and either had our final music video playing or a variety of pictures and screenshots shown on the screen while the voiceover were being recorded. Without these different methods of technology we would not have been able to make such a professional music video on a low budget.

 

Overall without digital technology our music video would not be as successful as we would not have been able to edit and change the colour and saturation.
